ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A woman was arrested Wednesday morning, August 28, in an entrapment operation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Capiz at Pueblo de Panay, Roxas City.
The reason?
She allegedly threatened to expose her former lady friend in a sextortion scheme over a debt of nearly half a million pesos.
NBI-Capiz operatives identified the suspect as alias “Edith,” while the victim was identified as alias “She.”
According to Agent John Katipunan, executive officer of the NBI-Capiz District Office, the victim filed formal complaints against the suspect last week.
The suspect and the victim were friends who shared an interest in cockfighting.
The misunderstanding between them arose when alias “She” borrowed ₱400,000 from alias “Edith,” with a repayment deadline set for August 5, 2024.
When the victim failed to repay the debt, the suspect allegedly threatened to expose a sex video of the victim.
The video, reportedly showing the victim masturbating in front of the camera, was first exposed in 2022 by her former live-in partner.
The NBI-Capiz set up the entrapment operation after verifying the allegations.
Authorities are currently preparing charges of “Grave Threats” and “Extortion” in relation to R.A. 10175, or the “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012,” against the suspect and three others allegedly involved with the said sex video.
