BACOLOD CITY – The Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is intensifying efforts to track down a pickup truck that ran over a 27-year-old call center agent near a flyover in Barangay Singcang-Airport early Tuesday.
Police identified the victim as “Trisia Ann,” a resident of Barangay Pahanocoy.
Police Executive Master Sgt. Rodney Tiania, deputy TEU chief, said the victim was riding a motorcycle driven by her 28-year-old live-in partner, “Mckevin,” on her way to work when the accident occurred around 2 a.m.
Tiania said witnesses claimed the couple was speeding when Mckevin lost control of the motorcycle due to the slippery road caused by heavy rain.
The couple fell from the motorcycle, and Trisia Ann was thrown to the opposite lane.
An oncoming pickup truck may have failed to see her lying on the road and ran her over.
Trisia Ann died on the spot, while her partner sustained minor injuries.
Tiania said investigators could not retrieve the vehicle’s plate number or determine its color due to poor-quality CCTV footage from nearby establishments.
Despite this, he said they remain optimistic about identifying the truck’s owner, with more traffic investigators deployed to gather information and interview potential witnesses.
Tiania urged the pickup truck driver to come forward and surrender to give justice to the victim.
Meanwhile, in Cadiz City, a 59-year-old woman named “Elizabeth” died, and her eight-year-old grandson and a 17-year-old ice cream vendor were injured after being sideswiped by a canter truck in Hacienda Aimee, Barangay Tinampa-an at noon Tuesday.
Police Lt. Lovella Cordova, deputy chief of the Cadiz City Police Station, said the woman and her grandson were buying ice cream along the roadside when the truck hit them and then crashed into a small house.
Cordova said the 23-year-old driver claimed he lost control due to a malfunctioning steering wheel.
Elizabeth died later in a hospital, while her grandson is recuperating in a private facility.
The driver was unharmed, according to Cordova.
