BACOLOD City – A woman was gunned down by an unidentified man at her residence in Barangay 3, Victorias City, Negros Occidental last Friday.
Killed was Maribeth Solatorio, 24, of the said village, who was allegedly involved in illegal drugs, according to Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, city police chief.
Investigation showed that the victim was sleeping inside their house when she was awakened by the father of her live-in partner after someone called out for her.
Corpuz said the victim talked to the suspect before she was shot.
The victim suffered a lone gunshot wound in her abdomen and was rushed to Ikaayong Lawas Hospital.
She was transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where she later expired.
Police recovered from the scene a fired cartridge of an unknown ammunition caliber.
Corpuz said the victim’s former partner was previously arrested for illegal drugs and was released through plea-bargaining deal.
Corpuz said that the victim was also subjected to Oplan Tokhang last year.
He said they already have a person of interest in the killing but refused to divulge the name as the investigation is ongoing.
