Operatives of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 confiscated P249 million worth of illegal drugs from January to November 2022.

The value is based on the 36.5 kilos of shabu and 7.1 kilos of marijuana seized in various operations.

Major Mary Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said different PRO-6 units conducted 1,487 operations.

Majority of the operations, or 1,118, were buy-busts, while 294 are through the service of warrant of arrests or search warrants and 75 are lumped under “other types of operations.”
These operations led to the arrest of 1,825 persons.

Around 1,646 arrested persons, or 90.2 percent, were considered pushers or dealers while 87 are users and 46 are categorized as both users and pushers.

Three cultivators and 20 minors were also apprehended.

Borio noted that while the volume of shabu confiscated in the third quarter of 2022 is higher than in the previous quarter, the decreasing trend of accomplishment is a manifestation that PRO-6 is “winning” the campaign against illegal drugs.

For the second quarter, confiscated drugs were valued at P51.28 million. But for the third quarter, it went up to P74.96 million.

“It can be viewed that the large volume of drug supply is prevented by our drug enforcement units and restrict the proliferation to the main players who were arrested,” Borio said.

Meanwhile, for the fourth quarter of this year, several arrests were conducted in Bacolod City, Capiz, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental.

Approximately, around 2.942 kilos of shabu are circulating in Western Visayas monthly.
