Assisting pregnant women to give birth. Helping underprivileged children go to school.

These were the good deeds exemplified by four police officers who were recently cited for their performance beyond the call of duty.

Staff Sergeant Maybelle Legario, Corporal Mary Joy Fusin, Corporal Alberto Loreno, and Patrolman Vinjie Nebit were formally recognized for displaying true act of service during this month’s “Pulis Magiting x Pilipinong Magiting” program.

Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, Western Visayas police chief, pinned the Medalya ng Papuri to the four policemen during the awarding ceremony at Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 headquarters on Monday, August 2, 2021.

Legario and Fusin, both members of Dumalag Police Station in Capiz province, were cited for helping a pregnant woman give birth while on her way to the hospital.

The case of Nebit, a member of Iloilo City Police Station 3, was also akin to the two Capiz policemen. She helped a mentally challenged pregnant woman who gave birth on June 26, 2021 at Jaro Plaza in Iloilo City.

Meanwhile, Loreno, a member of Calinog Police Station in Iloilo province has been recognized for offering financial assistance to siblings until they completed their secondary education.

Miranda said that it is but fitting to recognize the four policemen if only to show that good policemen far outnumbered the misfits.

Miranda has also recognized the stakeholders and PNP partners for showing a strong faith in the Philippine National Police being public servants who are committed to deliver public safety in Western Visayas.

“To the awardees, maging silbi kayong inspirasyon, sana dumami pa ang pulis magiting na kagaya ninyo ngayon. You do your job extraordinarily. Hindi lang public safety services yung ginawa ninyo. You made a difference and you left a lasting memory on the people’s mind that truly they won’t forget,” Miranda said.

Miranda also reminded police officers to be extra cautious and observe minimum health standard in the performance of every duty.

The Pulis Magiting x Pilipinong Magiting is a program of the PNP and Ayala Foundation Incorporated which aims to support Philippine National Police organization by giving recognition to exemplary acts of courage of uniformed policemen by doing good deeds beyond their duties and responsibilities.
