WV lists 157 new COVID-19 cases

The total number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Western Visayas now stands at 5,140 cases, after the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) reported 157 new cases on Sept. 3, 2020.

Most of the new COVID-19 cases are local transmission at 149 cases.

Bacolod City listed the most number at 58 new local cases, followed by Iloilo City with 46, Negros Occidental province with 25, Iloilo province with 16, and Capiz and Guimaras provinces, each with 2 new local cases.

Four new cases of Returning Overseas Filipinos were also listed on Sept. 3:

– 40-year-old female from Bacolod City (WV Patient No. 4992);

– 26-year-old male from Maasin, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 5096);

– 55-year-old male from Jaro, Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 5115); and

– 31-year-old male from Pavia, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 5136).

Three new cases were Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI):

-32-year-old female from La Carlota City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 4991);

-53-year-old female from Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 5009); and

-24-year-old female from Escalante City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 5010).

The remaining case was of an Authorized Person Outside of Residence, a 51-year-old male from Malay, Aklan (WV Patient No. 4999).

Based on the presence of symptoms, 126 new cases are asymptomatic, 20 new cases have shown Influenza-Like Illnesses (ILI), and 11 have Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).

The total number of active cases in the region according to the DOH-WV CHD is at 2,397.

A total of 1,163 laboratory results were released from the DOH-accredited Sub-National and Molecular Laboratories in Iloilo City, Bacolod City, and Negros Occidental province.

The region also posted 130 new COVID-19 recoveries on Sept. 3, increasing the total number of recoveries in the region at 2,660.

Iloilo City posted the most number of recoveries at 47, followed by Iloilo province with 29, Guimaras province with 27, Capiz province with 15, Bacolod City with 10, and Antique province with 2 new recoveries.

Three new deaths were also reported by the DOH-WV CHD on Sept. 3:

-63-year-old male from Molo, Iloilo City, who died on Aug. 23 (WV Patient No. 3192);

-56-year-old male from San Enrique, Iloilo, who died on Aug. 28 (WV Patient No. 3587); and

-53-year-old male from Arevalo, Iloilo City, who died on Aug. 23 (WV Patient No. 5093).

The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the region as of Sept. 3 are at 83.
