WV workers’ groups undergo program dev’t trainings

The Regional Office empowers the labor groups through continuous conduct of trainings and seminars on various topics geared towards the development of their organization.

In its pursuit to strengthen and empower the workers’ organizations as strong partners for the country’s development, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-6 regional office, through its field offices, continuously conducts various leadership and skills training for workers group across the region.

Under the Workers Organization Development Program (WODP), a total of 160 participants from 74 unions and organizations were served in the third quarter of the year.

A leadership training for workers’ associations and labor organizations was conducted in Negros Occidental while a training on advancing workers’ welfare was held in Iloilo City.  Similar trainings were also held in the provinces of Antique, Capiz and Guimaras.

In Aklan, the Metro Kalibo Water District employees attended training on financial literacy and mental health and conflict management essential for harmonious industrial relationship.

The trainings offered a variety of topics such as developing the participants’ leadership skills, insights on organizational management as well as discussing topics pursuant to Department Order No. 203-19 or Amending the Guidelines for Accessing the Funds of the Workers Organization Development Program (WODP) including grievance handling, livelihood trainings and unionism to enhance and strengthen the capabilities of the participating organizations.
