THE Iloilo Private Schools Athletic Association (ILOPRISAA) blasted archrival Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) in secondary boys’ football, 2-1, at the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-R) last March 3.
It was a come-from-behind win for ILOPRISAA, represented by Central Philippine University (CPU) Golden Lions as Mark John Non converted the game-winning goal.
Jason Tuazon first scored for the Iloilo squad which remains undefeated in the tournament.
ILOPRISAA is also poised to return to the national finals after securing the crown in secondary girls’ table tennis. It was a hard fought win in the doubles division. Iloilo was up by 2-0 and then lost the third, having one match point. The Ilonggas lost again in the 4th set, giving Negros Occidental a 5-2 lead.
But ILOPRISAA’s Mary Grace Bubongan and Lindsley Bonilla fought courageously to win the title. Frances Necole Caoyonan and Kimberly Solocasa also ruled the girls’ singles category.
In tertiary men’s volleyball, ILOPRISAA defeated University of St. La Salle-NOPSSCEA in three straight sets, 3-0. The tertiary women’s volleyball team also duplicated the win after walloping UNO-R, 25-20, 25-17, 25-15.
Meanwhile, Nadryll Barbaton of CPU was crowned Mutya ng Western Visayas PRISAA. She will represent Region 6 in the National PRISAA in Davao in May 2019. Barbaton was hailed Ms. CPU Senior High School 2018. She was crowned Mutya ng Iloilo PRISAA in November 2018.
