Airstream Renewable Corporation, a subsidiary of publicly listed NexGen Energy Corporation (PSE:XG), has secured Green Lane certifications from the Board of Investments (BOI) for four major wind power projects in Quezon province, including a massive 2000 MW offshore wind farm in Real.
The certifications cover the 200 MW Pandan Labayat Wind Farm, the 2000 MW Real Offshore Wind Farm, the 300 MW Silang Maragondon Wind Farm, and the 300 MW Mauban Offshore Wind Farm — representing a combined investment of approximately PHP 300 billion.
The Green Lane program, spearheaded by the BOI, is part of a national initiative to streamline the permitting and approval process for strategic investments that advance sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
“The granting of Green Lane certifications to Airstream Renewable Corporation’s projects is a testament to the government’s confidence that we are a proactive contributor towards sustainable and inclusive national development,” said Eric Y. Roxas, President and CEO of XG, during the official signing ceremony.
“With that being said, the critical task ahead of us is to ensure that these wind farms will start commercial operations soon — thus contributing to XG’s long-term financial growth and increased shareholder value,” Roxas added.
The Real Offshore Wind Farm, the largest among the projects, is poised to become one of the Philippines’ most significant renewable energy installations, reinforcing the country’s transition to cleaner energy sources in line with the Department of Energy’s Renewable Energy Roadmap 2020–2040.
Prior to receiving the certifications, Airstream had already initiated comprehensive technical, environmental, and social impact studies for the wind projects, including wind resource assessments and community consultations.
The Green Lane designation is expected to fast-track the next phases of development by reducing red tape and accelerating regulatory processes — a critical factor for large-scale infrastructure projects facing complex multi-agency requirements.
Attendees at the signing included BOI Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo, Executive Director Atty. Bobby Fondevilla, Director Ernesto Delos Reyes, and other key BOI officials, along with XG executives Angela Sanchez, Vice President of Operations, and Hannah Barroquillo, BOI Investment Specialist.
XG, through Airstream, is strategically aligning its portfolio with the Philippines’ goal to increase renewable energy’s share to 50% of the power mix by 2040, as outlined by the Department of Energy.
Wind energy currently accounts for a small fraction of the country’s installed capacity, but interest in offshore wind has surged following recent policy updates and international investment interest.
With Green Lane certification now secured, Airstream’s wind farms are positioned to attract further investor confidence and advance the country’s climate resilience goals while generating clean energy for thousands of Filipino households.
