THE Iloilo Provincial Health Office (PHO) is pushing for a year-round campaign for dengue prevention and control this 2019.
Dr. Patricia Grace Trabado, PHO chief, said no municipality in the province was spared from dengue cases last year.

Trabado said that some adolescents and young adults who study or work in the city and other provinces usually seek dengue treatment in their hometowns.

Dengue cases in Iloilo province occur in a three-year cycle, meaning that the incidence of cases peaks according to this interval.
PHO recorded 2,193 dengue cases with six deaths from Jan 1 to Dec 22, 2018. The number is higher compared to 1,334 cases recorded in 2017.
Now ang 2019, ika-third year, usually sa ika-third year damo ang cases, Trabado said.
The municipality of Dumangas had the most number of cases with 232.
Janiuay town follows with 169 and Ajuy has 142 with two deaths each, Trabado said.
Meanwhile, the municipality of Tubungan recorded only one dengue case in 2018, down from ten in 2017.
The towns of Igbaras with four, Banate with ten, and Guimbal with 13 has the least number of cases recorded in 2018.
Trabado said they already identified areas where clustering of cases occur, which means that three or more cases were detected in four consecutive weeks.

The PHO encouraged village officials and residents to participate in the Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue (or ABaKaDa) which calls for weekly clean-up drive.
