BACOLOD CITYAuthorities recovered the body of a 24-year-old fisherman late Tuesday night, hours after he drowned when his boat capsized in Barangay 10.

Coast Guard Ensign Pauline Villegas, public information officer of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Northern Negros Occidental, identified the victim as Troy Beloya.

Villegas said Beloya and two companions went to sea to retrieve a fishing net when their boat overturned due to strong winds and large waves.

His two companions managed to swim to shore, but Beloya went missing. The incident was reported to the PCG, which launched a search and rescue operation.

Around 11 p.m., a friend of Beloya, who was fishing near Bredco Port, found his body a few meters from the shoreline.

His remains have been claimed by his family.
