Young Ilonggos who are not yet registered for the May 2022 elections are urged to enlist and let their voices be heard in making decisions that can affect the country.

“We still have one week at pwede po kayong pumunta sa mga SKs o help desks natin sa barangay para matulungan po kayo sa inyo mga katanungan at requirements (We still have one week and you can go to your SKs or help desks in our barangays for your queries or requirements),” said Leila Luntao, president of the Iloilo City Sangguniang Kabataan Federation.

Luntao noted that many young people in the city have registered to vote in May 2020 elections.

“Kasi ibig sabihin nakikita nila na they are important in shaping the future of our nation,” added Luntao during her interview at the Network Briefing News program of the Presidential Communications Operations Office on October 22.

She is also hoping that the young voters, who comprised most voters and have the access to internet or social media, will make use of their resources to know better the candidates they will vote in the coming elections.

“I do hope po that they made use of their resources well na kilalanin nila ng mabuti ang kanilang iboboto because they have the power to make decision that can affect the country,” Luntao said.

The Commission on Elections has extended the voter’s registration in the country until Oct 30 this year.

In Iloilo City, the registration will be conducted from Oct 25 to 30, 2021 starting at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Robinsons Place Iloilo, Ledesma Street. (PIA)
