Young Triathletes Shine at IRONKIDS Puerto Princesa

The future stars of Philippine triathlon are set to take center stage as the RLC Residences IRONKIDS Puerto Princesa returns to the Ramon Mitra Jr. Sports Complex on Saturday, March 1.

Designed to nurture young athletes and introduce children ages 6 to 15 to multisport, the event promises a fun, competitive and inspiring experience.

Staged as an aquathlon race featuring swimming and running, IRONKIDS serves as the perfect lead-up to the highly anticipated IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Princesa on Sunday, March 2. Organized by Sunrise Events Inc., the race features four individual age-group categories, a relay division and a kids run, ensuring every child has a chance to participate and compete in a supportive environment.

The 6- to 8-year-old bracket will cover a 100-meter swim and a 1-kilometer run. The 9- to 10-year-old category will feature a 150-meter swim and a 1.5-kilometer run, while the 11- to 12-year-old class will tackle a 200-meter swim and a 1.5-kilometer run.

The premier 13- to 15-year-old division will cover a 250-meter swim and a 2-kilometer run.

In the relay, the 6- to 10-year-old group will take on a 100-meter swim and a 1-kilometer run, while the 11- to 15-year-old participants will compete in a 200-meter swim and a 1.5-kilometer run.

The kids run will feature a 1-kilometer course for the 6- to 10-year-old category and a 2-kilometer course for the 11- to 15-year-old division.

With nearly 200 young participants, the event is more than just a competition. It serves as a platform for children to develop discipline, sportsmanship and a passion for an active lifestyle. IRONKIDS continues to play a vital role in growing the sport while encouraging children to stay engaged in physical activities and reduce screen time.
