In celebration of the 18th Bacolaodiat Festival and the lunar new year, the Yuan Thong Temple will open its doors for devotees and festival goers to witness new year traditions and activities scheduled on Jan. 21-22.
The Yuan Thong Temple along Burgos street in Bacolod City is one of four major festival sites this year along with the Bacolod City Government Center, Megaworld’s The Upper East and SM City Bacolod.
The traditional ringing of the bell will be the highlight of the many activities set on the eve of the lunar new year, January 21, and is expected to gather Bacolod City officials, among many others.
Other activities lined up include the Wishing Card, cultural and lantern shows, dragon and lion dances, and the Dharma prayers in the evening.
Meanwhile, on New Year’s day, January 22, festival goers may participate in the Wishing Card, Offering of Lights and a calligraphy session.
A special storytelling event about the Chinese New Year and a vocal solo contest will also take place.
