Filipina-Japanese golf champion Yuka Saso just entered the World women’s overall top 10 rankings right after raising the trophy in the recently concluded 76th US Open.
Saso jumped 31 places higher than before and is now the official world no. 9 of the women’s golf ranking.
The amiable Filipina golfer did not realize her latest achievement at first and told the Philippine sports media that she was surprised and happy about her newest career milestone.
Saso pulled off one of the most spectacular comebacks in major golf championship rounds after overcoming a double bogey start.
The recovery was then quick after Saso was able to hit with a straight birdie and a par in the last three holes of the fourth round.
Saso’s historic victory earned her further points boosts aside from the major world ranking leap that she had a day after the US Open.
The Fil-Jap also took home a total of $1-million as tournament main prize and exemptions in the next 10 US Women’s Open tournaments.
