Filipino gymnastics superstar Carlos Yulo wrapped up his campaign in the 51st FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships with a silver medal finish in the vault and bronze in the parallel bars category last November 6, 2022.
The competition held in Liverpool, Great Britain marked Yulo’s culmination of months of intensive training in his different international training camps.
Despite failing to replicate his gold medal performance in Japan, the 22-year-old Tokyo Olympian still flaunted his unique routines in both categories.
Yulo notched a total of 15.366 points in the parallel bars event and placed behind Zou Jingyuan of China who bagged the gold medal with a 16.166-point production.
Meanwhile, Lukas Dauser of Germany put up a consistent performance that was enough to edge Yulo and take second place with a score of 15.500.
Yulo had a bigger chance of winning the gold medal in the vault after tallying a final score of 14.950 but Armenia’s Artur Davtyan stole the limelight and brought home the bacon with a 15.050 score in the championship round.
With his two medals in Great Britain, Yulo extended his streak of winning at least a medal in the World Championships since the 2018 edition held in Doha, Qatar.
Yulo will be recovering from a hectic schedule and will go back to training for the upcoming qualification round of the 2023 World.
The competition will be staged in Antwerp, Belgium and will also serve as the elimination round for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in France.
