Zach “Z-Bo” Randolph called a halt to his 17-year NBA career after his game against the Detroit Pistons, wearing the Sacramento Kings jersey.
Randolph posted a long and emotional message on his Instagram account right after their loss to Detroit, expressing his deepest thanks to those who were there for him since day one.
Known for his physical style of play down the post, Z-Bo’s aggressiveness and footwork garnered him two All-Star selections and the NBA’s most improved player during the 2003-2004 season.
Became popular during his legendary stint with the Grizzlies, Z-Bo, together with Marc Gasol, Tony Allen, Mike Conley, and Tayshaun Prince formed one of the most resilient and toughest teams to go against.
Dubbed as the “Grit and Grind” era because of their defensive tenacity and relentless energy, Z-Bo was the oil in their machinery.
Z-Bo’s Grizzlies squad was able to make seven straight NBA playoff appearances and was always considered as the dark horse in the western conference.
“Special thank you to the Memphis Grizzlies and the entire city which I will forever call my home,” said Randolph.
