BACOLOD City – A man died while a member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) was injured in two separate shooting incidents here and in Moises Padilla in Negros Occidental in the past three days.

The most recent incident was reported here June 30 which resulted in the death of Hans Kristian Concepcion, 24, of Barangay 14.

Police Major Jovil Sedel, head of Police Station 1, said Concepcion, who was reportedly drunk, went to the house of suspect Metchel Maningo, 40, of the said village past 4 a.m.

Concepcion allegedly broke a pot, rousing Maningo from his sleep.

A heated argument ensued between the two which led to the shooting.

Both had grudges against each other as well, Sedel said.

Concepcion succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on his head.

Police recovered from the scene a fired cartridge case and a magazine with live ammunition of a .45-caliber pistol.

Sedel said the suspect fled but was arrested at the house of his family in the village through a follow-up operation.

A murder case is being prepared against Maningo, who is detained at Police Station 1.

Meanwhile, in Moises Padilla town, Cafgu member Marty Villarma was injured after he was allegedly shot by a colleague inside their patrol base at Barangay Montilla on June 28.

Investigation showed that Villarma and suspect Adonis Villanueva, 32, of Toboso town were drinking liquor when they figured in an argument.

Villanueva allegedly fired his issued calibre 9mm (Glock 17) pistol at Villarma who was wounded on his neck.

Villarma is now confined in a hospital.

Both are Cafgu members under the Army’s 12th Infantry Battalion (IB) based at Montilla Patrol Base Delta Company in the said village.

Villanueva fled fearing possible retaliation from the victim’s relatives inside the detachment.

He went to the house of a retired policeman and sought assistance for his safety.

He then surrendered to the responding police officers when they arrived at the scene.

Villanueva is detained at Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station.
