BACOLOD City – Several persons here and in Negros Occidental were arrested for various alleged violations amid the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

In Bacolod City, cops nabbed John Michael Andres, 27, and Norman Sano, 27, both residents of Barangay Bata for failure to wear face masks, lack of home quarantine pass, and violating the curfew.

The duo was crossing Lacson Street at Barangay Mandalagan here last Saturday evening when a police officer manning a check-up point approached them.

But the officer claimed the duo acted arrogantly when confronted why they were out of their houses amid the curfew.

Andrew and Sano were charged for non-wearing of face masks, and disobedience to a person in authority. They are detained at Police Station 3 for the filing of charges.

Meanwhile, eight persons, including five minors were arrested after they were allegedly caught swimming at Bayawan boulevard in GK village, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental on Sunday.

The minors were referred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

According to a report from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), these individuals violated the stringent measures on ECQ being implemented in the province due to COVID-19.
