BACOLOD City –  The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here has temporarily transferred 269 personnel with family members or relatives running for this year’s Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

Police Captain Judesses Catalogo, public information officer of Nocppo, said yesterday that 268 are non-commissioned officers, and the other is a commissioned officer.

Catalogo said the commissioned officer is Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, chief of Silay City Police Station. He was temporarily replaced by his deputy chief, Police Major Rhea Sarah Villanueva.

Catalogo said that these personnel were reassigned to another police station starting the last week of August. They will return to their previous assignment after the election, he added.

Based on the guidelines of the National Police Commission (Napolcom), they can be transferred to not more than two cities or municipalities from their previous assignment or residence.

“This is to ensure neutral and non-partisan politics,” he said.

Meanwhile, Catalogo said that the provincial headquarters is ready for their security measures for the BSKE next month.

However, he said they are waiting for the official declaration on the election watchlist areas from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) so they can assess the number of personnel that needs to be deployed in a particular area.
