FIVE local artists of Bacolod City are designing the trophies for the Ruby MassKara Festival.
They are Allan Ong, Erika Mayo, Dennis Valenciano, Leah Samson, and Svetlana Sevilleno.
Allan Ong was one of the 16 artists who designed the 2016 trophies called the “MassKara 16”. His artworks reflect his observations and views towards Negros business.
Erika Mayo chooses female as subjects in all of her paintings. She likes to explore issues on gender and underrepresentation.
Dennis Valenciano specializes in watercolor and coffee. He has been doing solo and group exhibits since 2009.
Leah Samson is currently the president of the Art Association of Bacolod (AAB). Her artworks reflect mostly nature and everyday life. She is also one of the most active female artists in Bacolod.
Svetlana Sevilleno is a self-taught artist who considers painting as a stress reliever. She is also an active core member of AAB.
The artists work on a wood form designed by Charlie Co.
The form shows a sun and a boat, depicting the story of the festival.
Since 2006, the trophies have been hand-painted by various artist from Bacolod City.
All 35 trophies will be awarded in various events of the Ruby MassKara Festival.
