5 village chiefs want cops back in Cagay

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Five barangay captains supported Sanggunian Panlungsod member Moreno Gonzaga in his call to reinstate police officers in Brgy. Cagay here.

In a letter to Police Colonel Julio Gustilo Jr., Capiz police director, the village chiefs requested for police personnel to be reassigned at Cagay, which Gonzaga headed until his election as city councilor in May 2019.

The village chief said the presence of the police will mean faster and effective response to crimes.

“We noticed that with the pullout of police personnel, illegal activities such as drugs and gambling are rampant,” they added.

Gonzaga said he was not informed about the pullout of the police force in Cagay, the area where barangay kagawad Onel “Dodoy” Arandez was shot dead on Jan 10, 2020. He added that the suspects may have been apprehended if police officers were present in the area.
