The seven-day anti-criminality campaign of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 led to the arrests of 506 persons for various violations.
The region-wide operations are part of PRO-6’s Birada Semana campaign, which ran from June 20 to 26, 2022.
Birada Semana is a weeklong enhanced managing police operations (E-MPO) and focused police operation on anti-criminality, wanted persons, illegal drugs, and illegal gambling.
As expected, majority of those arrested were alleged wanted persons.
PRO-6 records indicated that 238 persons were collared by virtue of arrest warrants. Two hundred are classified as other wanted persons while 38 are considered as most wanted persons.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) posted the biggest arrest on wanted persons with 89 while Iloilo PPO made 72 arrests.
Antique PPO collared 18 persons, Bacolod City PO with 17; Aklan with 15; Iloilo City PO with 13; Capiz PPO with 10; and Guimaras PPO with 5.
Meanwhile, 66 persons were arrested for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) in the 54 anti-narcotics operations conducted.
These led to the recovery of around 258 grams of suspected shabu and 2,000 grams of marijuana with a combined estimated standard drug price value of P1.999 million.
Also, 216 persons were nabbed for illegal gambling.
In the campaign against loose firearms, 216 firearms and 17 explosives were either recovered or surrendered.
During the weeklong police operations, different police units conducted 2,516 checkpoint operations.
