BACOLOD City – 53 personnel of the San Carlos City Police Station in Negros Occidental, including non-uniformed personnel (NUP), underwent a surprise drug test yesterday.

The test was conducted by the San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (SCCADAC) and facilitated by the City Health Office (CHO).

The participants led by Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Baybayan, city police chief, gathered at the covered court of Barangay 3 and submitted their urine samples to the CHO staff for the test.

Baybayan said the activity was in line with the internal cleansing program of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Baybayan said they want to make sure that law enforcers are drug-free so that the community will trust and respect the police officers.

For her part, SCCADAC Secretariat Analiza Macaraya, said the council will always conduct surprise drug testing on different government offices, as part of the mandate of the city government to have a drug-free workplace.
