67 more inmates hurdle random drug test

PERSONS deprived of liberty (PDL) in three jails in Guimaras and Iloilo passed random drug tests conducted recently.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA-6), together with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), conducted a greyhound operation and surprise drug tests on inmates of municipal and district jails in Guimaras, Passi, and Pototan in Iloilo on May 7 and 8.

Not a single contraband was found while all inmates who underwent the test were negative for drug use.

At around 7:00 a.m. of Wednesday, PDEA-Guimaras led by Investigation Agent-III Jyxyvzcky Escrupolo, together with the PDEA Interdiction and K9 Unit, BJMP-VI and the Buenavista Municipal Police Station, conducted search and seizure operation at the Buenavista Municipal Jail in Buenavista, Guimaras.

Six inmates were picked from 29 prisoners of the jail to undergo drug test.

An hour later, the same team also conducted a greyhound operation at Jordan District Jail in Jordan, Guimaras.

Sixteen of the 46 inmates underwent drug testing and all were negative.

A day prior to that, a search was also conducted at the Passi City District Jail in Barangay Sablogon, Passi City.

29 of the 146 were made to undergo a surprise drug test. Again, everyone hurdled the test.

Another greyhound operation was also conducted on the same day at Pototan Distrct Jail located at M. B Penaflorida Street, Pototan, Iloilo.

16 out of the 81 PDLs who were picked for a random drug test all tested negative.

On April 2 and 4, the team also conducted the same search and random drug test at the Iloilo District Jail in Pototan and the BJMP jail facility in Dumangas, Iloilo.

On May 1, PDEA also conducted search and seizure operation and random drug testing at Culasi District Jail – Male Dorm in Poblacion, Culasi, Antique and the San Jose District Jail Male and Female Dormitory at Barangay 8, San Jose, Antique.

All inmates who underwent the drug test passed.
