To date, 68 personnel of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 have contracted the coronavirus disease.
Give that the region’s police force has a strength of around 13,000, the infection rate is deemed low.
While the rate at around 0.5 percent, Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, said they do not want the number to increase.
PRO-6’s 68 confirmed cases are a mere 1.3 percent of the total number of infected PNP personnel.
The confirmed cases include eighteen personnel assigned to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (RPHAU); 12 from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOcPPO); and 11 from the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Offices with single-digit number of confirmed cases are the PRO-6 headquarters with 9; the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and the Iloilo Police Provincial (IPPO) with 6 each; non-uniformed personnel (NUP) with 4; and Aklan PPO and Capiz PPO with 1 each.
The Guimaras PPO, Antique PPO, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RFMB-6) have no reported COVID-19 case.
As of September 16, PRO-6 has 24 active cases, 43 recoveries, and one death.
The lone fatality was an ICPO personnel who got infected and eventually died while on training in Laguna province.
