68 wanted persons nabbed in a day’s operation in W. Visayas

Different police units arrested 68 persons in a day’s operation all over Western Visayas.

The arrested persons included 10 classified as most wanted persons (MWP), or those in the top 10 or priority list, while the remaining are lumped in the other wanted persons (OWP) list.

Notably, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) made 49 arrests, or 72 percent of the total apprehensions on Nov 9, 2022.

Antique PPO accounted for nine persons, five of whom are on the MWP list.

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and Iloilo PPO both made four arrests each while Aklan PPO and Guimaras PPO arrested only one person each.

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and Capiz PPO did not arrest any person.

Major Mary Grace Socorro Borio, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) spokesperson, said that Negros Occidental could have made the most arrest because it is the region’s biggest province when it comes to land area.

“There could be other factors such as they were able to monitor those in the wanted list before the one-day simultaneous operation was carried out,” she said.

As to Capiz and Iloilo City’s zero arrests, Borio said they could have other anti-criminality efforts.

She noted that ICPO made several arrests on illegal drugs on Wednesday.

“But our efforts haven’t waned. We still continue our other campaign against other crimes like illegal gambling and illegal possession of firearms, among others,” Borio said.
