863 more cops arrive to secure MassKara highlights

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) received the fourth batch of augmentation personnel who will secure the highlights of the 43rd MassKara Festival from Oct. 21 to 23.

An additional 863 policemen from Police Regional Office (PRO)-6, and police offices in Guimaras, Iloilo province, and Negros Occidental arrived here yesterday.

They will support the existing security forces that were already deployed here since the start of the festivity on Oct. 1.

The last batch of personnel will ensure the safety of the revelers, including tourists and other visitors who will witness the Electric MassKara at the Megaworld’s The Upper East, and the Street Dance and Arena competition at the Paglaum Stadium.

They will also be part of the additional security during the visit of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his family, and Vice President Sara Duterte here on Sunday, Oct. 23.

The recent augmentation will be added to the initial 1,669 security forces deployed for the MassKara Festival, bringing the total to 2,532 personnel.

Meanwhile, some parts of Lacson Streets were already closed since Oct. 19 as they prepare for some concerts and events in the three remaining days of the festival.
