IN OBSERVANCE of the 41st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week on July 17 to 23, 2019 with the theme “Lokal na Pamahalaan: Kabalikat sa Pagtupad ng Karapatan ng mga Taong may Kapansanan,” the Iloilo Girl Scout Council held its 3rd year celebration of “A Day with the Girl Scouts with Special Needs” at the IIoilo Girl Scout Council Social Hall, La Paz, Iloilo City last July 20, 2019.
More than 86 Junior Girl Scouts from the provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras attended the event.
The girls had special needs such vision and hearing disability, Down Syndrome, and other psychological challenges. They were assisted by 30 adult leaders.
Council Secretary Merrily Jane Pedroso welcomed the participants and guests. This was followed with a Unicorn and rainbow-themed program and the highlight of the event and songs and games prepared by the Senior and Cadet Girl Scouts of Iloilo Council.
The event ended with the giving of certificates, gifts and Girl Scout badges.
“You can really see the happiness and glow on the faces of the girls with special needs as they interact and play with their Manangs. This event was a good platform for them to showcase their talents and to have fun the Girl Scout way,” said Senior Girl Scout Gwyneth Amber Aguilos.
