After the turmoil in the San Miguel Beermen open practice session last Sunday, the San Miguel Beermen management has decided to suspend those who were involved, Kelly Nabong, Ronald Tubid, and Arwind Santos.
With SMB coming to a crucial stretch as the Governor’s Cup playoffs near, the SMB squad was dealt a painful loss to the TNT Katropa, 109-114, and failed to secure a twice-to-beat quarterfinals advantage.
The absence of the trio provided a deep void for SMB during the game against TNT as they just missed Nabong’s post presence, Tubid’s veteran leadership, and Santos’ clutch scoring.
With the loss, SMB found themselves in regroup mode, as 5-time MVP June Mar Fajardo was still disappointed with what happened and is still affected.
Coach Leo Austria of SMB said that even though they needed the trio in times like this as the playoffs are nearing, they still can’t tolerate things like that, and they need to look at themselves if they really want to help the team win.
Awaiting the Beermen are rivals Barangay Ginebra, who proved to be a tough opponent for SMB.
SMB will look to go back to the drawing board and set issues aside as they face a do-or-die game against GSM this Sunday.
