BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Tuesday ordered police in the province to increase their visibility to deter crime.
Lacson issued the marching order to the Negros Occidental Police Office led by Colonel Romeo Baleros during their New Year’s call on the provincial government at the provincial capitol.
Lacson said some areas in the province already have security cameras but some areas need police visibility to assure public safety.
“Police visibility is one way to assure the public that they are safe in their respective areas,” Lacson said.
He also told the police chiefs to promote the use of close-circuit television cameras in their respective localities to improve their crime deterrence capabilities.
Lacson commended the entire NOPPO police force for a job well-done in 2019.
“I am satisfied with what they have accomplished. Record wise they did well. I did not set any targets for them, because they themselves have their own targets. Even Baleros said there is always room for improvement but definitely it is not a failure,” Lacson said.
With Baleros due to retire in June 2020, Lacson said the Philippine National Police should start looking for a replacement in the next two months.
