BACOLOD City – A male teenager, who was an adopted son of a former public official in Bago City, Negros Occidental, was stabbed dead by an unidentified suspect at Barangay Poblacion Monday.

Killed was Rafael Alvarez, 18, a senior high school student of the said village.

Police Major John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, said the victim was found lifeless in front of their house past 4 a.m.

Alvarez succumbed to multiple stab wounds.

According to a neighbor, a commotion occurred among persons who were drinking liquor inside the victim’s house.

Based on a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage, the unidentified suspect allegedly attacked Alvarez with a bladed weapon and fled.

The victim had no family members at home when the stabbing happened while their drinking buddies already went home, Batusbatusan said.

Batusbatusan said that some victim’s companions during the drinking session already gave their statements to the police.

He said they already have a person of interest but refused to identify the person for now.

He said a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) was also created Monday to focus on Alvarez’s case, especially in the light of claims that the victim was a minor.

“We want the people to know that we are not neglecting this case and we will solve this,” Batusbatusan added.
