BACOLOD City – Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, head of this city’s inter-agency task group on novel corona virus (nCoV), told Daily Guardian here Thursday that the number of Persons Under Investigation (PUI) for the 2019 nCoV has gone up to six, two of whom are foreigners.
They are currently admitted to hospitals in the city, Familiaran said.
Earlier, a Canadian national who was among the first three PUIs in the city had been cleared of the virus.
The six PUIs were subjected to swab tests, the results of which are still pending.
The two foreign PUIs travelled to Germany, Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, which already reported positive 2019 nCoV cases.
The vice mayor also met with the first 30 owners of hotels and pension houses in the city and asked them to implement precautionary measures against nCoV in their respective establishments.
The city has 95 hotels and pension houses, and Familiaran said he is going to meet with the rest of the owners in the following days
He also said that the Sangguniang Panlungsod has approved the P10-million allocation for the nCoV contingency standby fund, which will be used to purchase Personal Protective Equipments.
But while the procurement will undergo government procedures and will take time, Familiaran said he personally acquired about a hundred thermal scanners to be distributed to the different schools.
