ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A 36-year-old man was hacked to death by unidentified suspects Saturday evening at Barangay Santa Rita, Dumalag, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Michael Fuyonan who succumbed to 31 hack wounds in different parts of the body.
Investigation by the Dumalag Municipal Police Station indicated that the incident happened when unidentified persons stoned Fuyonan’s house.
When he went out to check who was responsible for the attack, the suspects approached and hacked him with a bolo.
The victim was declared dead at the hospital.
Police recovered from the crime scene a bolo while the suspects remain at large.
Punong Barangay Aida Fuscablo of Santa Rita said Fuyonan was suffering from mental illness.
She said the victim was admitted to Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City last month because of his ailment.
She added that several persons have been complaining of Fuyonan’s alleged unruly behavior because of his mental condition.
Even the father of the victim was not spared.
The police said they have two persons of interest in their investigation.
