BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has confiscated an estimated P21,929,142.10 worth of illegal drugs from January 1 to June 22, 2020.
Police Major Lester Leada, head of the BCPO operations branch, said that the data included seizures in anti-drug campaigns of the city police force amid the community quarantine brought by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic since March 17 to present.
Leada said that 3,224.8565 grams of shabu worth P21,929,024.20 and 0.786 grams of marijuana valued at P117.90 were confiscated in almost six months.
Based on the data provided by the BCPO to Daily Guardian, Police Station 3 has the highest drug haul with P8,435,141.60, followed by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) with P7,535,889.20, and Police Station 2 with P4,432,090.40.
The BCPO conducted 189 anti-illegal drug operations, including five police responses, and six incidental to lawful arrests, while 22 arrest warrants were served, 152 buy-bust operations and four checkpoint operations were conducted.
A total of 291 persons were arrested while four were killed in their anti-drug war here, BCPO records showed.
The arrested individuals included 169 alleged drug pushers, 115 purported drug users, and seven minors.
The BCPO has filed a total of 484 drug cases in the said period.
