9-day drug haul nets P1.5-M worth of ‘shabu’

BACOLOD City – Nineteen persons were arrested and P1,548,432 worth of suspected shabu were seized here and in Negros Occidental in the past nine days.

In Bacolod, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested four persons in two separate buy-bust operations at Barangays 2 and Banago on Aug 3 and 9, 2020, resulting in the confiscation of P408,000 worth of suspected shabu.

In Negros Occidental, a total of 15 persons were apprehended in separate drug bust operations while P1,140,432 worth of suspected shabu were seized from Aug 1 to 8.

Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted the operations in the cities of Himamaylan, Cadiz, Sagay, Victorias, Silay, Talisay, and San Carlos; and the town of Toboso.

The biggest drug haul last week was conducted in San Carlos City. It led to the recovery of P476,000 worth of suspected shabu from a 24-year-old man after a buy-bust at Barangay Palampas last Saturday.

PDEA-Negros Occidental also arrested two high value targets at Barangay 5 last Friday and confiscated P374,000 worth of shabu.

All 19 suspects will be facing drug charges.
