BACOLOD City – Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares called on Talisaynons to continue to stay vigilant and observe strict health protocol to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Talisay City Health Office reported that the city had seven new COVID-19 cases, bringing the tally to 569 (56 active cases, 497 recoveries and 16 fatalities).
Talisay City tops the list of COVID cases among local government units in the province of Negros Occidental.
Lizares reconvened the local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to recalibrate the city’s drive against the spread of COVID-19.
The mayor said he wants to focus and push for extra precautionary measures to be enforced in barangays Zone 12A, Concepcion, and Zone 8 which have the highest COVID-19 cases.
He also mulls to restrict public movement on Sundays.
He also said there is a need for the strict enforcement of the “no home isolation and home quarantine policy” to further curb local transmission and continue to achieve higher recovery rate.
With firm guidelines and enforcement in place, the Talisay IATF reported that it has managed to reverse the surge in cases in September and has kept it in single digit levels in October with only 55 active cases remaining to date,” Lizares said.
“More are recovering daily bringing our recovery rate to a high of 87.4 percent, performing better than the provincial, regional and the national recovery rate of 84.8 percent.”
Meanwhile, total COVID cases in the province totaled 3,790 (1,218 active cases, 2,486 recoveries, and 86 deaths).
