115 new COVID-19 cases recorded in WV

The Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) reported 115 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in its latest case bulletin on Oct. 20, 2020.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region is now 14,906.

The latest batch of new cases is composed of 110 local cases, 3 Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI), and 2 Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF).

Iloilo City listed the most number of local cases with 56, followed by Iloilo province with 24, Capiz and Negros Occidental with 13 each, and Bacolod City with 4.

The new LSI cases include 2 from Capiz – a 27-year-old male (WV 14817) and a 36-year-old female (WV 14818), both from Pontevedra town, and 1 from Guimaras, a 49-year-old male from Nueva Valencia town (WV 14812).

Iloilo province and Guimaras listed 1 new ROF case each, a 33-year-old male from Miag-ao town (WV 14811) and a 45-year-old male from Nueva Valencia town, respectively.

Western Visayas now has 3,018 active cases, according to the DOH-WV CHD’s data.

Negros Occidental has the most number of active cases with 1,237, followed by Iloilo City with 731, Bacolod City with 539, Iloilo province with 370, Capiz with 107, Aklan with 15, Guimaras with 12, and Antique with 7.

The region also confirmed 109 new COVID-19 recoveries on Oct. 20.

The total recovery tally is now at 11,532.

Most of the recoveries are from Bacolod City with 78, followed by Negros Occidental with 13, Iloilo province and Capiz with 6 each, Aklan with 4, and Iloilo City with 2.

Bacolod City also leads the region’s total recoveries to date, with 3,976, followed by Iloilo City with 2,744, Negros Occidental with 2,650, Iloilo province with 1,273, Capiz with 565, Aklan with 117, and Antique with 59.

Seven new deaths were also listed in the region Tuesday, composed of 2 new deaths each from Bacolod City, Iloilo City, and Negros Occidental, and 1 new death from Iloilo province.

The region’s total mortality tally as of Oct. 20 is at 356.

The most number of COVID-19 fatalities as of Oct. 20 is from Bacolod City, with a total of 118, followed by Iloilo City with 80, Negros Occidental with 69, Iloilo province with 52, Capiz with 28, Aklan with 7, and Guimaras and Antique with 1 each.
