Finally, the Philippines is back as a recognized country with an official volleyball federation.
The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) recently held an official ceremony to introduce the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Inc. (PNVFI) under their helm as the main volleyball association of the country.
During the third and last day of the international federation’s world congress held online, 155 national federations out of the 190 total voted for the approval of the PNVFI by the FIVB.
“Thank you to POC president Bambol Tolentino and secretary general Edwin Gastanes for initiating an inclusive and unifying approach to the elections. Now, our work begins to fulfill our singular commitment to all stakeholders. At PNVF, we serve volleyball,” said president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
A few weeks ago, through the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), a set of officers were appointed to oversee the volleyball association tasked by the FIVB.
As part of his duties, Suzara will be the main head of overall operations regarding the country’s volleyball development and will have to oversee all national teams from indoor, men, and beach.
“We now proudly banner the honor and the responsibility of being affiliated to both the international federation and the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC),” added Suzara.
