A teenage girl added to Iloilo province’s statistics of electrocution victims.
But unlike others, 13-year-old Ann (not her real name) survived with only minor burns on her body.
Ann, a resident of Happy Homes Subdivision in Zarraga, Iloilo, works as a food server of Alfa Restaurant located at Barangay Rumbang, Pototan.
She allegedly went up the rooftop of the building that houses Alfa Restaurant when the incident happened around 6:05 p.m. of June 6.
Major Ciriaco Esquilarga, Pototan police chief, said Ann touched a steel bar that was attached to a wire of ILECO II’s distribution line.
The victim suffered minor burns on the left hand and upper portion of her body.
She was immediately taken to Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan town and later transferred to Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City.
The restaurant owner has been taking care of the girl’s medical needs.
She was allegedly a runaway child and a vendor referred her to stay at the restaurant, where she was asked to do menial work.
In the past week, several persons died in Iloilo province after they got electrocuted by dangling electrical wires.
