A 47-year-old man had gone literally “untouchable” after he created a scene while drunk at City Proper district, Iloilo City.
Nobody dared to touch, even go near Jojo (not his real name) as he was earlier tested positive for Covid-19.
A security guard reported that Jojo was spotted in front of a store at Fuentes Street where he is working as a warehouse loader.
Jojo underwent reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test on June 12 and his positive result came out the following day.
But Jojo was no longer at his place when authorities reached out to him for quarantine. His whereabouts were not known until he was seen drunk outside his workplace.
Captain Shella Mae Sangrines, Iloilo City Police Station 1 chief, said Jeck Conlu, Iloilo City Covid team spokesperson, called her up around 10 pm to respond to the area.
Barangay tanod could not also do much but watch after him.
“When we arrived, he was seen sleeping at the delivery van parked inside the store,” Sangrines said.
When he woke up, Jojo appeared to be sober already.
Still, responding policemen and members of the Iloilo City Public Safety and Transport Management Office (PSTMO) had to wait for the Iloilo City Emergency Responders (ICER) to pick him up.
Sangrines said they escorted the ambulance in case he might again go wild.
But two of her policemen had to also wear personal protective equipment in case there’s a need to restrain Jojo.
With quarantine facilities already at full capacity, Jojo was taken to an inn in Jaro, Iloilo City for quarantine while police stood guard in any event that he would attempt to flee from isolation.
