BACOLOD City – A man and his 16-year-old niece were wounded after they were stabbed by a motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) driver at Hacienda San Jose, Barangay Guadalupe, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.

Police identified one of the victims as Rene Serad, 42, while the name of the minor was withheld. They are both residents of Barangay Alijis here.

Police Captain Roger Pama, deputy police chief of San Carlos City Police Station, said the victims went to the house of the suspect identified as Wilmer Talledo to collect payment for his debt.

But instead of paying them, Talledo allegedly attacked them with an ice pick while they were walking towards the sea when he invited them for swimming, Pama said.

“Nanukot sila (victims) utang sa motor sang suspect, galing siguro may plano na nga indi mag bayad, ginhagad sila pabaybay tapos along the way, gin buno niya ang duwa,” Pama said.

Both victims suffered multiple stab wounds on the different parts of their body and were brought to San Carlos City Hospital.

They were then transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.

Both are in stable condition.

Pama said the suspect is still at large.
