BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is looking into negligence as the alleged cause of the fire that gutted two houses and 10 stalls at Katalbas-Osmeña Street, Barangay 1, Sagay City, Negros Occidental yesterday.
Inspector Rodney Nadal, acting city fire marshal, said the fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. from a house which was also being utilized as an eatery or carinderia.
Nadal said the blaze started from an alleged unattended charcoal.
“Nawad-an sila LPG so nagbakal sila uling pero basi nalipatan,” he added.
Nadal said the fire immediately spread to neighboring stalls of vegetables because the structures are made of light materials.
Nadal said the blaze left an estimated P200,000 worth of damage.
Arson investigators declared fire out around 4 a.m. No injuries were reported.
