BACOLOD City – A son who was reportedly suffering from nervous breakdown allegedly mauled his father to death inside their house at Sitio Bokbok, Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on New Year’s Day, January 1.

Police identified the victim as Romulo Espenido, 76.

According to Police Lieutenant Marion Vincent Buenaflor, deputy police chief of Talisay City Police Station, Espenido massaged his son – 33-year-old Julius Roy – when the latter complained that he was feeling ill.

But Julius Roy suddenly choked his father, and reportedly hit the latter’s head with a rock that caused his death.

“Wala man kabalo pamilya nila kung anong rason nga ginhimo niya ato kay wala man sila away,” Buenaflor said.

Buenaflor said the suspect then hid at the back of their house where he was arrested by police.

Buenaflor said the suspect was uneasy when police responded.

“Daw wala siya sa kaugalingon niya, may nervous breakdown daw siya,” he added.

Buenaflor said they will check the background of the suspect if he has involvement in illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, in Kabankalan City, two brothers were wounded after they were also mauled at Hacienda Santa Rosa, Barangay Orong last Saturday.
