A 32-year-old man died from drowning afternoon of July 8 in Tigbauan, Iloilo.

The body of Sherwin Torrecampo, 32, resident of Mañacabac, Janiuay, Iloilo was fished out of the waters of Barangay Baguingin, Tigbauan around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The victim was not immediately identified until 10 a.m. on Sunday when his relatives went to the police station to check on the man who was found floating near a beach resort in Baguingin village.

It appeared that the victim’s companions were not even aware of what happened to him.

Captain Mary Jane Panes, Tigbauan police chief, said that a group from Mañacabac village went for an excursion on Saturday.

It was a last-minute decision that Torrecampo went with the group.

They left the resort at 4:30 p.m. without the victim.

They did not bother to look for Torrecampo as some of them assumed that he went home ahead of the group.

Panes said the victim had consumed liquor before he went for a swim.
