A motorcycle driver was killed while his backrider was injured after their vehicle rammed into a utility post in Miagao, Iloilo morning of September 1.
Police identified the fatality as Cesar Castillon, 43, of Barangay Bangladan, Miag-ao.
The injured backrider was Romnick Evan, 29, of Sitio Bange, Barangay Calampitao, Igbaras town.
Captain Francis Donne Lomahan, Miag-ao police chief, said they have yet to figure out what happened since Evan appeared to have been traumatized and is yet to give a statement to the police.
Initial investigation showed that the driver lost control of the motorcycle while negotiating a curve then overshot and bumped into a roadside electric post.
“There was no skid mark in the area. One possibility was that he dozed off while driving,” Lomahan said.
Castillon sustained head injuries while Evan suffered wounds on his head and face.
Police also recovered a protective helmet with blood stain at the scene of the incident.
Investigators have yet to establish the relationship between the two victims.
They just received reports that Castillon was supposed to drive Evan to apply for a driver’s license at a Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Antique province.
