BACOLOD City – A 28-year-old man was released from jail yesterday after his family decided not to press charges against him for killing his drunken father in Barangay III-Poblacion, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Police Captain Arturo Margallo, deputy chief of Himamaylan City Police Station, said that Fernando Jodilla Jr. got irked when his 59-year-old father, Fernando Jodilla Sr., disturbed his sleep when he got home from a drinking session.
A heated argument ensued between them, when the victim allegedly hurt his son, according to Margallo.
It led to a fistfight until the younger Jodilla allegedly stabbed his father, he added.
The victim suffered a stab wound in his left armpit and was declared dead in a hospital.
Margallo said the victim would allegedly usually go berserk when he’s drunk.
