High school basketball superstar Andy Gemao will be looking to pursue a lifetime dream that only limited Filipinos achieved.
After a dominant NCAA stint with the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Squires at the secondary level, the high-leaping guard is now US-bound and will try out at the prestigious Veritas Academy National Prep in California.
Multiple sources confirmed that Gemao already flown to the US to begin his new journey at the Nike Elite high school basketball program.
However, Gemao will still need to perform in the series of tryouts to be conducted by the coaching staff of the Veritas Academy National Prep.
ABS-CBN Sports then reported that Gemao will still wait for the outcome of the results before he formally leaves the Letran program.
If Gemao earns a slot in the varsity team, he will most likely depart the Squires and will not be present in their title defense once the NCAA season kicks off.
Gemao was a beast during the last season of the high school NCAA hoops after steering Letran to a championship title, taking down the stacked La Salle Green Hills team coached by Renren Ritualo.
During that back-and-forth series, Gemao averaged an impressive 17.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, outdueling the superstar duo of Seven Gagate and Luis Pablo, La Salle’s anchor that brought them to the finals.
After his stellar season, Gemao got invited to participate in the NBA Basketball Without Borders training camp.
Gemao then turned heads after the UP Fighting Maroons brought him during their various international trips as part of their buildup for the upcoming UAAP season.
