PSO Guimaras’ outstanding partners hailed in PSA stakeholders’ appreciation

The Guimaras Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) and Daily Guardian (DG) publishing firm and media outfit were recognized as partner-agencies of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)–Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) while the West Visayas State University was the regional awardee during the 2023 Outstanding PSA Stakeholders Appreciation Ceremony spearheaded by the PSA-Regional Statistical Services Office VI (PSA – RSSO 6) at Zuri Hotel, Iloilo City on September 29, 2023.

“The appreciation is part of the PSA’s 10th-anniversary celebration, which aims to recognize its outstanding partners and stakeholders who upheld all its programs and endeavors, likewise have supported a lot of PSA’s accomplishments,” Guimaras Provincial Statistics Officer Neida B. Losare said.

The PPDO received a plaque of appreciation for being an outstanding partner of PSA Guimaras for Statistical, Planning, Policy, and Coordination at the LGU level.

Daily Guardian also received a plaque of appreciation for being an outstanding media advocate for PSA activities, products and services for print media category having the most accurate and highest number of published news feature of PSA-Guimaras releases.

West Visayas State University (WVSU) was a regional awardee as an outstanding partner for Statistical, Planning, Policy, and Coordination at the Academe.

“The WVSU College of Arts and Sciences is also our partner in the Capacity Development (CapDev) training capacitating the members of the Provincial Statistics Committee-Guimaras,” Losare said.

PSA Guimaras nominated in six categories identified outstanding partners from various agencies, LGUs, Academe, individuals, and media partners and submitted to RSSO VI for evaluation, choosing the best against other nominees from the six provinces of Western Visayas region. 

“Our outstanding partners truly deserved the awards for their steadfast commitment and invaluable partnership with the PSA in the delivery of its mandate,” Losare said.

“A heartwarming credit to all the awardees for their efforts is also our way of giving back the favor, for without their support, PSA can hardly achieve all its undertakings,” she added.

Losare also highlighted that the PSO Guimaras is proud to be part of the PSA’s decade of quality statistical services.

“Looking back, the PSA is the result of the merging of the four major statistical agencies, namely, the National Statistics Office, National Statistical Coordination Board, Bureau of Agricultural Statistics, and Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics through Republic Act 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which took effect on September 12, 2013.”

Losare expounded that the PSA is the government’s central statistical authority that collects, compiles, analyzes, and publishes statistical data on the country’s economic, social-demographic, and general affairs.

“It also carries civil registration functions, inclusive identification system, and a Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS),” Losare said.

The PSA anniversary for this year is anchored on the theme: PSA@10: Providing Quality Services Through Digital Transformation, emphasizing its constant enhancement on making digital processes in the delivery of better public service.

“This validates that PSA also adopts innovations to offer excellent services to the public by embracing the digital era,” Losare said.

“It is so proud to highlight that Guimaras PSO has significantly contributed to the ten (10) productive years of PSA. PSA Guimaras has successfully registered 147,281 individuals in Guimaras in the PhilSys Identification System. Not to mention, PSA Guimaras also started the 2022 Census on Agriculture and Fisheries using computer-assisted personal interviews and artificial intelligence,” Losare added.

Losare mentioned that PSA Guimaras will keep delivering quality and timely statistics essential for decision-making and policy formulation, including civil registration services and an inclusive identification system for equitable development towards an improved quality of life for all.
