Since its announcement in February this year, the ASICS Rock ‘n’ Roll® Running Series Manila presented by AIA Vitality has inspired an enthusiastic crowd of both new and experienced participants to take to the streets on November 26, 2023.
After being a resounding success in its maiden Manila staging, the event has become the most anticipated running event in the Philippines – almost doubling its participation size from last year.
Bringing the global running phenomenon that combines running, music and community, the event will take runners past historical landmarks. With its on-course entertainment, live bands, DJs and ensembles, to its unique heavy medals – the spirit of rock‘n’roll will be felt throughout the heritage streets.
With the course starting in Luneta Park, then heading to the National Museum and Manila City Hall, Fort Santiago and to Chinatown in Binondo, Mayor Honey Lacuna was thrilled that the running event is back to shine the spotlight on the beautiful sites of the city.
“It is an opportunity to promote the beautiful sites of Manila – like Jones Bridge, Arrocero, and the Walled City of Intramuros,”she said
ASICS, the event’s title sponsor, has long been a supporter of community initiatives that promote health and wellness. Mr. Kabir Buxani, Director of Sonak Corporation (Official Distributor of ASICS) said, “Celebrating the pulse of Manila, we proudly champion the essence of an active, healthy lifestyle. ASICS fervently encourages the belief that a sound mind and a sound body are the pillars of true well-being, illuminating the path to a healthier and more fulfilled community.”
As the presenting sponsor, AIA Philippines’ Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Henson shares her excitement at AIA’s participation in this unique running event. “Being active is key to achieving and sustaining physical and mental wellbeing. Events like this make staying active more enjoyable. AIA Philippines, through its groundbreaking wellness program, AIA Vitality, is pleased to take part in this fun and engaging event that helps thousands of Filipinos live healthier, longer, better lives.”
This year’s course has been certified by the World Athletics Association of International Marathons and Distances Races (AIMS) has met the requirements of safety, and course accuracy and is a qualifier for the World Marathon Majors. The event has drawn 9,400 sign-ups from 53 countries.
Aligned with the Department of Tourism’s “Love the Philippines” campaign, Princess Galura, Regional Director of the IRONMAN Group Philippines, wants to take participants into a new adventure right in the heart of the City.
“Running, music and community are the pillars of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series and we want to give the participants a perfect blend of the three. Runners of all skill levels will have a unique tour pass through iconic Manila, under the festive lights of the season. Music and live entertainment will be blasting, creating an energetic atmosphere. And a sense of camaraderie of runners simply being there for the fun creates memories, making our last event for the year enjoyable and unique,” she said.
